FILM: Retards Offended by Tropic Thunder

*Posted August 8, 2008*

Where to begin. Firstly, Tropic Thunder is going to be the funniest movie of the summer. Secondly, the reason why it's going to be funny is that it makes fun of a lot of Hollywood actor stereotypes that Ben Stiller knows from firsthand experience. Robert Downey Jr.'s Australian hothead actor is supposed to be a parody of Russell Crowe (although they deny it). Ben Stiller's dumb action star plays a retard in a movie called Simple Jack at an attempt to win an Oscar (other acting heavies like Hanks, Hoffman, Thornton, and Penn have played simpletons to critical acclaim). Stiller is making fun of how stupid and careless actors are when they try to tackle subjects like retards for their own benefit, and how despicable studios are for capitlizing on such movies. Tropic Thunder is not making fun of retards who can't defend themselves for the sole purpose of laughing at retards. It's satire! It's parody! In any case, groups are attempting to boycott Tropic Thunder in order to get any trace of Simple Jack or the use of "retard" cut from the film. The fake website for the Simple Jack movie has already been pulled from the internet. It's like we are going backwards in the media! You can say dick, asshole, and nigger on cable TV now, but retard should be off limits? And this is coming from people who haven't even seen the film yet and don't understand the context of it. Remember the words of Michael Scott: "You can't call retarded people retards. It's bad taste. You call your friends retards when they are acting retarded."

For exhibit A on why retards are funny, I present Will Sasso in Drop Dead Gorgeous...
