FILM: 'Speed Racer' Bombs at B.O.

Since the Wachowski's butchered the final two parts of the Matrix trilogy, I was overjoyed to find out that their latest effort, Speed Racer, pulled an Earnhardt and crashed into the wall and died, metaphorically speaking. Apparently, Warner Brothers actually lied on Saturday and projected their gross to be higher than what it, encouraging more people to see it on Sunday. They finished third overall, pulling in $18.6 million on a film that reportedly cost $300 million to make. Movies have had a hard time turning a cartoon into a live action success. Garfield 1 and 2 both sucked, as did the new Chipmunks movie. The only great ones I can think of are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Popeye, and Dick Tracy, with Tracy being the greatest.
