NEWS: Adventurer to live alone for 300 days

*Posted May 30, 2008*

French explorer and adventurer Xavier Rosset is about to embark on a 300 day trip to live alone on a remote tropical island in the South Pacific. His adventures will be filmed and used for a 52 minute documentary.

Xavier’s only luggage will be a Swiss army knife, machete, video camera, and a solar panel for charging the camera. He will spend 10 months alone on an island to develop another way of life through an exciting adventure, a return to the elemental sources. Xavier will survive alone on an island without human interference and without polluting emissions.

Not only does this give off a cool Survivor/Lost/Cast Away vibe, but there's great potential for disaster. Either he succeeds and builds a cool home, or he might die horribly and no one will know. It's like the guy who hiked from England to India getting by on the kindness of strangers (he stopped in France). You want these people to fail. Good luck Xavier, be wary of hatches.

This week's news of the weird (brought to you by newsoftheweird.com)

Mr. Cash Burch, 24, was arrested in Waterloo, Iowa, in April after he broke into a truck and tried to start it but apparently ran down the battery doing so, which triggered a theft-prevention device that locked the doors, trapping him inside, where he was waiting when police arrived.
