SPORTS: Detroit Wins Stanley Cup

*Posted June 5, 2008*

The ride is finally over for the Pens. Game 6 was a heartbreaker and it came down to the very last second when Sidney Crosby's backhand missed beating Chris Osgood by inches. Now the Red Wings have their fourth Stanley Cup in 11 years, and the Penguins are heading to the offseason where we don't know who will stay and who will go. I don't think anyone will question that the Red Wings were the superior team by far in this series (and playoffs, and regular season). Pittsburgh was grasping at straws a lot of the time, only to be saved by Fleury and my new favorite defensemen, Hal Gill. Malkin finally showed up, but still too late (any bets on what injury they'll say he had during this series? I say concussion.). At least we know that Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar, Fleury, and Staal (ugh) will be back and we probably will be back in the Finals very soon. But please, somebody buy the rights to broadcast NHL games. NO MORE VERSUS. NO MORE NBC! They are both beyond awful (except for the NBC NHL jingle). Interviewing coaches during the game is retarded. The new powerplay camera angle doesn't even let you see the back of the net. Edzo is still a moron! We all miss ESPN's coverage with Barry Melrose, Steve Levy, Darren Pang, Bill Clement, Gary Thorne, and the NHL 2 Night guys. This series was a great boost for the NHL no matter what fake athlete Tiger Woods claims, now they need to capitalize on it. Go Pens.
